19 of the Russian's twenty-one titles have been won on hard courts

A resurgent the Russian player secured his first championship for 882 days with a win over opponent Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.

The athlete, a former number one, has endured a challenging season, winning just one win at the big events and experiencing a setback at the New York tournament.

His inconsistency on the professional circuit - and issues with his serve in particular - caused him falling of the world's top 10 and finally splitting with former mentor Gilles Cervara.

Presently collaborating with Johansson and his other coach, the tennis star has gradually advanced in the recent weeks - culminating in a closely contested competitive win over opponent Corentin Moutet.

This marks Medvedev's first title since the Italian tournament and first on a hardcourt after March of 2023.

Victory also means he has won 21 victories at 21 various competitions.

"This marks the first occasion I have attended a tournament with my both daughters at once, so to secure a championship is really nice," said tennis professional Medvedev.

"This title is in honour of my younger daughter her name, because the first title I got when my first daughter her name was born was for her."

The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his past six championship matches, including in Halle in the past months.

The player's defensive approach and recurring outbursts on court had prompted commentators to wonder if his ability to compete at the top level was finished.

However the 29-year-old has made changes in recent weeks, striving to come to the net and play assertively, reinforced by an enhanced serve.

Medvedev fought back from a break down in the initial set against the difficult opponent, securing 4 of the last five exchanges to gain the advantage.

Both players traded breaks in the middle set before Moutet, striving for his first professional title, took control to force a final set.

He saved four early break points in a close deciding set before Medvedev broke to that score to serve for the match.

Fittingly, he secured the title with a shot at the front of the court, with his opponent unable to handle a return after over two and a half hours.
